Steven Wise, Luthier

I can't say enough about Steven Wise. A maker of fine instruments from the smallest ukelele to the mighty Double Bass, his atttention to sound and detail is unsurpassed. He also gives me the honor of repairing my instruments when they need it (which is pretty often, as hard as I use them). He is a true custom builder; each instrument is unique and fitted to the needs and playing habits of the owner. Here he is trying out one of his own double basses. The reason it looks so white is that he is still in the sanding process, listening for variations in tone as the wood gets thinner.
