William F. Cox

William F. Cox is one of the very few artists in the world who has mastered the medium of acid-plate etchings. This ancient and very difficult process involves scratching the design on a wax-covered copper plate. This is then given an acid bath that eats the exposed metal, creating a plate that then is used with a special printing press to truly "press" the ink onto archival cotton paper. It can take several hundred hours of painstaking detail work to create each wonderfully rich etching available from his site.

William is the artist who drew (not etched) the cover for the Burly Minstrels classic "This is the Chorus". He is also a fine musician, whose balalaika picking and great harmony voice will be featured on the next Jim Hancock and Friends recording, "Can't Stop Now".
